Mike Allan, and guest-host Brent Bawel, talk with Dr. Dustin Feld about how technology can "always help as a vehicle to make the world better, easier, and also more interesting."
Dustin Feld:
Dr. Dustin Feld is the co-founder and managing director of adiutaByte, a holistic support system developed to handle various planning challenges by combining specialized human processes and algorithmic strength in mathematical optimization. Dustin has spent more than a decade at the Fraunhofer Institute in the Algorithms and High-Performance Computing department developing modern combinations of optimization and AI in real-world scenarios. He and his team founded adiutaByte GmbH from Fraunhofer with a focus on the care industry, even though adiutaByte serves many other industries as well. Since 2011, Dustin was employed at SCAI, first as a research assistant, then as a PhD student, and finally a Postdoc and Senior-Scientist. He completed his PhD on dynamic placement optimization for integrated circuits in October 2016, and has had work published in numerous publications such as Taylor & Francis Journal-Articles and IEEE Proceedings.
adiutaByte:
Optimizing a route plan with adiutaByte is done in seconds with just a few clicks. With their “Augmented Realtime Optimization” approach, the planner is actively involved in the optimization process and provides expert knowledge within the highly complex mathematical process of planning optimization, thus combining the human and algorithmic power. adiutaByte is already working within various industries and uncovering new potential across the entire value chain and helping make better use of existing strengths.
Key Takeaways:
- Dustin has always been a “full-blood nerd”. He started programming at a young age, before he learned his first, second language.
- adiutaByte comes from the world of tour plan optimization, but they started in the ambulant health care sector, trying to mitigate some of the issues seen during the health care crisis in Germany at the time.
- adiutaByte’s focus on route optimization is how their partnership with Routeique came to be.
- With adiutaByte, Dustin aim to combine science and technology, transforming it into real-world adaptivity that the whole world can access.
- Dustin loves the idea of the digital twin, and making AI that behaves like the real world in order to simulate problems and optimize them digitally before making any real-world implementations.
- adiutaByte has recently become part of MEDIFOX DAN, one of the most tech aware and innovative healthcare software groups in Germany.
- adiutaByte’s platform is also prepared to be “quantum ready” so they can get their technology into quantum computing in the future.
